Civilians are non-uniform members who provide critical support to our organization. They work in many areas including communications, administration, forensics, garage operations, transcription, evidence management, information technology, public relations and more.

We have many exciting full-time and part-time careers for civilians. We also offer summer employment opportunities for students.

Cadet Program

The OPP Cadet Program focuses on enhancing the career development and experience of future OPP police constable candidates. Cadets assist frontline officers with administrative duties and through engagement with their communities by supporting crime prevention and public safety initiatives.

Special Constables

Special Constables

Special Constables are civilian employees who have been given limited peace officer or police officer powers by the Commissioner for a specific job or task. This includes offender transportation officers, security officers, court officers and forensic identification analysts.
