The OPP considers its people to be its most important resource. There are approximately 6,200 uniform members, 2,700 civilian employees and 850 auxiliary members serving the citizens of Ontario. The OPP provides policing service on Ontario’s roadways, trails and waterways found within its jurisdiction of over 942,405 square kilometres of land and 94,610 square kilometres of waterways. The OPP has a proud history of serving this great province. Since its inception in 1909, the OPP has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of the communities it serves.
