Crime Prevention

“Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the action taken to remove or reduce it.”

The mandate of the Crime Prevention Section is:

Provide crime prevention expertise in support of Frontline Policing.  Promote and support partnerships with Regions, Bureaus and external stakeholders; government, community and other police services, aimed at the prevention and reduction of crime.
  • Take a leadership role in identifying and sharing best practices, on a broad range of crime prevention focused programs and initiatives, proven effective through research and consultation
  • Deliver crime prevention messaging to the public targeted at reducing crime, as well as the impact, victimization and fear of crime within our communities across Ontario.
  • Forecast and develop responses to emerging crime trends.
