“Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the action taken to remove or reduce it.”
The mandate of the Crime Prevention Section is:
Provide crime prevention expertise in support of Frontline Policing. Promote and support partnerships with Regions, Bureaus and external stakeholders; government, community and other police services, aimed at the prevention and reduction of crime.

Take a leadership role in identifying and sharing best practices, on a broad range of crime prevention focused programs and initiatives, proven effective through research and consultation

Deliver crime prevention messaging to the public targeted at reducing crime, as well as the impact, victimization and fear of crime within our communities across Ontario.

Forecast and develop responses to emerging crime trends.
