Repeat Offenders Parole Enforcement

The Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad is responsible for locating and apprehending provincial and federal escapees, parole violators, and dangerous offenders – those who are most likely to re-offend.

The Provincial ROPE Squad was established in 2002 and is within the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau  The ROPE squad is comprised of members of 15 municipal, provincial, regional and federal police services, who are located strategically throughout Ontario.  Partner agencies include:

  • Kingston Police Force
  • London Police Service
  • Niagara Regional Police Service                   
  • Ontario Provincial Police
  • Ottawa Police Service

  • Waterloo Regional Police Service
  • Windsor Police Service
  • York Regional Police Service

A unique aspect of the Provincial ROPE Squad is that it provides a coordinated response to Offender Management.  The Provincial ROPE Squad’s multi-agency structure allows for a seamless, efficient and continuous hunt for wanted persons.  

The Provincial ROPE Squad implements a public awareness strategy to ensure the public is alerted to offenders who are unlawfully at large and pose a high risk to public safety.

The investigations and apprehensions conducted by the Provincial ROPE Squad are an excellent example of crime prevention, proactive and intelligence-led policing strategies that enhance public safety.
